Judi Windleharth, LMHC (She/her/hers)

I’ve always integrated different interests in my life, which has enriched my counseling practice today.  I have been a lifelong reader compelled to understand characters and stories.  I studied science in college, and then got an undergraduate degree focusing on intersectional feminism, social justice, and the study of gender/sexuality.  After a career focused on helping people in libraries, I felt strongly called to help people in a different way, as a therapist!

During my internship at a community mental health organization I discovered that I had a passion for helping clients who had experienced trauma.  I got training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy—EMDR helped me, and it matters to me that it is an evidence-based treatment.  After seeing how it supports healing for my clients, I continued my training to become EMDR certified.

In addition to running my practice I enjoy meditation, working on crafting projects, gardening, and reading genre fiction.

My focus:

I have a lot of experience working with trauma and PTSD. For some people, it’s things that happened over a period of time. For others it’s unexpected moments that change people’s lives, like car accidents, assaults, sudden deaths, or natural disasters. I also work with grief and loss, medical trauma, and childhood trauma.
